“Modern Mix of Styles”
A modern kitchen combining traditional door formats with handle-less design and contemporary finishes.
Massimo Iosa Ghini
Born in 1959, Massimo Iosa Ghini is recognized as one of the best known Italian architects and designers. A graduate of the Politecnico di Milano, in 1985 he founded the avant-garde Bolidismo group and participated in the Memphis group at the request of Ettore Sottsass. Opening his own design studio, he has developed projects for such major international organizations as Ferrari, IBM, and Alitalia. His portfolio is diverse: accessories for Alessi, the main subway station in Hanover, a nightclub in New York, furniture, public sculpture, exhibition spaces and of course kitchens. His unique design Gioconda for Snaidero is a magical synthesis of classical and contemporary traditions.
“I design an object by imagining it in terms of a concept of “full” architecture, in which the outer surface is seen as more of a shell than a membrane. This gives rise to projects based on tradition, which are also indisputably contemporary due to their strong fluidity.”
